Explanation.
Popova cannot pay the loan Smirnov the loan that day.

She blames him for misbehaving with woman there starts the hot discussion about woman and
their conduct.
Smirnov ask popova if she has ever seen a loyal and sincere woman.
He does not wait for a answer he says that only abnormal or old woman are faithful.
It is possible to see a cat with horn or a white woodcock.
But it is not possible to see a faithful woman.
A cat does not have horn and woodcock is brown in color.
He rules out the possibility of a constant woman.

not resist her charms. He feels weak. He has malted like wax before the fire of love. He needs
before popova and makes an offer of marry.

to receive his payment. He has to pay his creditors the next day. He does not accept popova
position. He is bent upon getting his money that very day. He says that she can not influence him
with her mourning state or over come with her beauty.

knows very well how to behave before woman. He boasts the he has fought duels because a
woman. He had many affairs with woman. He refused twelve women to marry while nine women
rejected his proposal for marriage. He then speaks of his youthful days when he fell in love with
woman. He refused perfume used. He spoke sweet love words he wore jewellery he showed
regard to woman by bowing before them. He wants to say that he is much experienced in matters
of woman, and knows how to behave before them.

Explanation.
Popova’s husband was morally a weak person. He was disloyal to his wife. Popova has not
forgotten him after his death. She is looking at his photograph and speaking to it. She said
praising her own self. She calls her self a good and virtuous wife. She has shut her self off from
the out side word. She has given up all interest in worldly affairs. According to her, her husband
was not a good man. He troubled her he quarreled with her. He left her alone for weeks.

fight. She is not afraid at all. She sayes the it will be a great pleasure for her to
kill him an put bullet in to his head. Smirnov his really impressed of her bravery.

his money. He speaks aloud he exclaims that he is very angry. He feel as if he wirr shaking
and trembling with rage.
