Fate vs. Free Will Es s ay The issue of fate vs. free will is a topic that has been mulled over since the beginning of time. Some people believe that things are fated to happen no matter what. On the other hand, others believe that fate can be overcome by the gift of free will. We have screened three films that portray unique perspectives on this theme in which the films’ directors have taken a definite stance in this age-old debate. THESIS = In your opinion, which of the three films (Premonition, The Butterfly Effect, and Sliding Doors) most accurately portrays the theme of fate vs. free will? To be successful with this, you must establish your point of view on this topic and then chose the movie that most closely represents your ideals. Please defend your position using support from this film in conjunction with the other two films we have screened in this unit.
