Second, the arguable point (that Diana is a hero) isn’t justified through the
use of factual information.
Third, the structure of the essay is indicated – clearly the essay will focus
on how her humanitarian efforts helped to raise AIDS awareness
and how her support of the campaign encouraged countries to
support it as well.

Considered one of the richest men in the world, Bill Gates is a hero because he
changed the world’s ability to access and harness the power of technology.
Why is this a good thesis?
The arguable point (that Gates is a hero) is justified through an arguable
statement – that he changed the world’s ability regarding technology --this essay needs to prove this statement and show how he did this.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy is a hero because he exemplified an unparalleled ability to
make wise decisions while governing an entire country with great charisma,
charisma he used to win over the souls of his fellow Americans.
Why is this a good thesis?
Ok, it’s a little “showy,” but it’s STILL a good thesis. Why? Because the
arguable point (that JFK is a hero) is justified through an arguable
statement – his unparalleled ability to make wise decisions --- this essay
needs to prove this statement and show examples of how he did this.
