APUSH UNIT SIX ESSAY REQUIREMENTS
The Prompt
Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois represented two
different points of view on how to secure African American civil
rights. Define the problems faced by African Americans at the
beginning of the 20th century and identify which path they chose
to seek their political and social freedom.
Use the following documents AND your knowledge of the period
to construct your answer.

Must be double-spaced (even if hand-written)
Font size 12, if typed
Do not write on the back, if hand-written.
Attach pre-writing process to back of essay.
In your introduction, please highlight the thesis statement in
pink, the expansion in yellow, and the list in blue.
 In each body paragraph, please highlight the topic sentence in
pink.
 You must use at least five words or phrases from the “Power
Words” list. Please highlight them in your essay.
 Points will be deducted for use of the words show, think, a
lot, big, things.
Essay is due on Monday, February 23!!!! THE ESSAY WILL
COUNT AS A TEST GRADE FOR THIS NINE WEEKS!!!
