LOUISVILLE BRANCH NAACP SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING WILL BE LIMITED TO FOUR ACADEMIC YEARS GRADUATE OR UNDERGRADUATE 1. To be eligible for the scholarship awards program: Graduating high school seniors and undergraduate college students must possess a C+ (2.5) GPA or above on a 4.0 grading system. Graduate students must possess a B (3.0) GPA or above on a 4.0 grading system. 2. All applicants must be: A legal resident of Metro Louisville. A citizen of the United States. 3. The application process requires each applicant to: Submit the completed Application, typed or printed legibly (incomplete applications will not be considered). Selected Application materials may also be submitted electronically to: raybur9299@aol.com. Provide an official year-end transcript from last school attended. Provide evidence of full-time enrollment or acceptance for admission at a fully-accredited institution. High school seniors must submit a hard-copy of their official ACT or SAT scores. Demonstrate financial need by completing the Application and submitting a copy of your (or parents’ if you are still considered a dependent on your parents’ income tax form) Federal IRS Form 1040. Students who exceed the income limitations may apply and compete for any available remaining funds (submission by U.S. Postal Service only accepted). Submit an essay, 600 words or less typed and double-spaced in a 10 to 12 point type-font with 1 inch margins. Provide three (3) letters of recommendation on official school letterhead. At least two (2) of the three letters should come from two (2) educators (one counselor and one teacher) providing the recommender’s full name, contact information and relationship to the applicant. (Letters of recommendation from relatives will not be accepted). Provide a non-returnable photograph (no larger in size than 2 ½ x 3 ½ inches), with the applicant’s name on back for use in NAACP publications (submission by U.S. Mail only). If applicant is awarded, he/she must attend the annual Scholarship Awards Reception unless excused by the Scholarship Committee Chair. Finally, selection points are awarded for membership in the NAACP, however membership is not required for application consideration.
