In the short story, “The Possibility of Evil,” one of the underlying themes is that “appearances aren’t always what they seem.” Sometimes one’s appearance is deceiving and is not at all representative of who they are. Miss Strangeworth fits this profile. Your mission is to use the short story “The Possibility of Evil” to demonstrate the “two-sided” character she depicts.
Please consider making reference to her physical characteristics, inner emotions and thoughts, her role in society and the way she is perceived by the people around her. In order to support your perception and understanding, you will be expected to provide SIX direct quotations from the text and reference them using
MLA format (we will review proper MLA formatting together in class).
There are several ways to meet the requirements for this assignment. Here are a few options, but please feel free to approach your teacher with an idea of your own!
