Characterization Assignment: My Facebook Page
Assignment Description: You are going to create a My Facebook Character profile for a character from Act 1,
Scene 2. We learn about characters through what they say, how they react to conflict, and how other
characters talk about and to them. You will use textual evidence and your own reasonable creativity (based
on textual evidence) in making this mock profile.
Some general pointers:



Everything should be written in first person point of view. You will write as if you are the character.
Keep everything in your profile school appropriate.
Download the Facebook template from the class blog; DO NOT create a new profile online.

What does Miranda think of Prospero’s story? How does she feel about Prospero waiting 12 years to
tell her about her past? Is she bored by Prospero’s story? (Or is she distracted by her concern for the
shipwrecked passengers?)
Prospero tells Miranda he is the victim of his brother Antonio’s evil plotting. Does Miranda believe
Prospero’s story? Does she think Prospero is guiltless in being usurped?
What does Miranda think of Caliban? (What if he tried to friend her?)
What does Miranda think about Ferdinand? (What if he tried to friend her?)
