Naviance Please request transcripts and recommendations at least two weeks prior to application deadlines for colleges and scholarships. Have you been accepted to college? If so, please indicate that in Naviance by going to the section “colleges I’m applying to” and editing that specific college (click the pencil next to that college), and choosing accepted in the drop down box next to “Result”, then clicking “Update Applications” at the bottom of the screen. We would also like to know if you have been deferred, so please indicate that as well. Have you been awarded any scholarships? Please provide a copy of the award letters to Guidance so we can include you in our scholarship total. Financial Aid The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is now available at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. Completing the FAFSA is required to apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants, loans, and work-study. The FAFSA is also used to apply for most state and college aid, in addition to some private financial aid. Any Norfolk Christian senior who demonstrates excellence in Christian character and academics, and extensive participation in the fine arts. Applicants should display the following: minimum GPA of 3.0, active participation in fine arts, strong leadership qualities, strong Christian character, and a commitment to study at a four-year college. Turner Memorial Scholarship (Choral Director for NCS from 1996-2008) Who Should Apply? Any Norfolk Christian senior who possesses a desire to pursue higher education emphasizing music and the choral arts. How? Applications are available in the Guidance office. When? Completed applications are due by April 19, 2013. (NEW) Norfolk Sports Club Who Should Apply? student must have lettered in at least one sport, must graduate with at least a C average or better, financial need must be demonstrated, must attend a college or university in Virginia How? Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by the essays that are submitted; Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible. How? Deadline is June 21, 2013 The Virginia Council on Women, in collaboration with the Science Museum of Virginia is pleased to announce the 2nd annual STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Essay Contest Who Should Apply? Senior girls who will be pursuing a STEM career in college and have at least a 2.5 GPA How? Entrants should follow guidelines available online at: http://www.commonwealth.virginia.gov/Women/index.cfm. When? Entries must be submitted to women@governor.virginia.gov by 5:00pm on March 1, 2013 to be considered. The winning essays will be selected by a panel of judges who hold a degree in or work in STEM fields. Winners will be notified by April 15, 2013.
