Tip # - How to change the precision of the value displayed in a note Product: HyperView Product Version: 10.0 and above Topic Objective To change the precision of the value displayed in a note Topic Details It is often necessary to display/see the contour value or any such value with a particular precision i.e. with required decimal places. To do so create a note in HyperView Go to Annotations > notes Notes panel is activated as below © 2013 Altair Engineering Pg 1 24/07/2013 | RP Click on Add to add a new note, choose attach to entity to attach the note to an entity, In this example the model is already contoured with displacement and hence is attached to a node, We now choose to display the contour value i.e. displacement of the node in this note, so in field names we select entity contour value and then click on insert field We now get the default contour displayed as below © 2013 Altair Engineering Pg 2 24/07/2013 | RP To change the precision we enter the following syntax in the field {entity.contour_val , %.3f} where 3 is the number of decimal digits We can enter any number after the decimal point in the syntax to get the required precision For instance %.9f to get 9 decimal values after the decimal point We now get the required result as shown in the images below © 2013 Altair Engineering Pg 3 24/07/2013 | RP © 2013 Altair Engineering Pg 4 24/07/2013 | RP
