Teaching instructions






Children will need a recording sheet to total up the values for each of the Christmas items.
Before beginning, make copies of the addition cards
Display the cards around the classroom – this can be turned into a treasure hunt to make it
more exciting.
Issue children with a clipboard, a record sheet to match the colour of cards they are to use,
and pencil.
While playing Christmas music/soundscape, have pupils search for the cards. Count the
two sets of items and record the totals on their grid.
Children may count sets and write the total only, or count sets, write the addition sum and
total; or copy the sum and write the answer.
