Fractions War
Today we will play a card game, similar to "War." Here are the rules:
1. A shuffled deck of cards is divided between two players.
2. Each player flips over two cards from the top of their pile.
3. The two cards are used to make a proper fraction.
4. The player with the highest fraction wins and takes all 4 cards for their pile.
5. Repeat until one player has all of the cards, or time runs out.
You will need to think of strategies for determining which player has the highest fraction. Some will be obvious, some will not. Try:
• Comparing to one half
• Seeing how close to one or zero the fraction is
• finding a common denominator
Both players need to agree before the turn is over.
