“SEPTEMBER IS NEW GENERATIONS MONTH”
President’s Message…… Hello Las Vegas Central
Rotary Club! Hopefully you all had a wonderful
weekend and took a few moments to remember
those that we lost on 9/11. It is hard to believe 10
years has passed so quickly.
I took some time to think about my life over the past
10 years and was amazed at the changes and
blessings that have taken place that might go unnoticed if one doesn’t take the time to reflect. I encourage you to think about your life and the past 10
years and all the good our club has done for not only the local community, but all over the world. Then I
want you to think about the next 10 years and all
the good we are going to do with your help.
Remember, every week is a “Bring a friend to Rotary week”. Also, we need to decide on our annual
winter fundraiser very quickly, so if you have any
good ideas please let me know…see you all
Wednesday!
Pres. Jason

THIS WEEK’S PROGRAM
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Miss Kitty’s Jeans to Jewels – Nancy reminded
everyone who will be participating that we have to
be at the Bitter Root Ranch on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
They will be having a cocktail party prior to the
event this year but we will still serve beer & wine
during the barbecue.
Homeless Connect is coming up in November
Nancy reminded everyone that we need books as
we give them out to the homeless as part of our literacy project. They like all kinds of books: fiction,
non-fiction, self-help, Bibles, dictionaries, National
Geographic, children’s books, etc. They can be paperback or hard cover.
SOAR – Pres. Jason is still looking for someone
who can represent our club at SOAR this year on
Monday, September 12th.
Joint Club Family Picnic – Pres. Jason reminded
everyone that we will be having a picnic with the
North Las Vegas Club on Saturday, September 24th
at Floyd Lamb State Park in Tule Springs. There
are 3 covered sections along the lake with 4 tables
in each section. The club will provide hotdogs and
hamburgers. Those attending are welcome to bring
salads, desserts, etc. to share.
Fireside Chat – Bob Hellreigel announced he will
be hosting the Fireside Chat for Michael Perry and
Latta Kadir at his home on Wednesday, September
21st at 6:30 pm. A sign-up sheet will be passed
around at next week’s meeting.

FINES & HAPPY/SAD BUCKS
Sgt-at-Arms Dick Weisbart didn’t collect any fines
because everyone was wearing their pins.
Beatrice Lee was happy as she and Carol Jule
had a great time at a great show on Sunday.
Jason Brown was happy that Mike Angel joined us
today and that Dr. Mike Barton is here.
Freda Brazier ($2) was happy that Dick Weisbart
gave Michael & her tickets to see George Wallace. It was a great show. She was happy because Saturday was her grandson’s 1st birthday.
Bob Hellriegel was happy because he had a very
nice holiday weekend.
Sae Lee ($3) was sad because his Cox cable is
down at his office. He was happy because he
read an article in the newspaper about Mickey
Wiedeman’s successful brain aneurysm surgery.
Her doctor told her it was inoperable but she
found a doctor, an interventional radiologist, who
successfully treated her aneurysm. He was also
happy because he is running in a 9.10 (k) 9/11
memorial event. He has been practicing.
PDG Al Slaggert ($2) spent Labor Day in the
emergency room. His tongue and then his airways started to swell so his wife drove him to
Centennial Hospital. His blood pressure was
240/110. But he had a lot of fun with the nurses.
He had another happy buck because Nancy
joined them at a memorable big band concert.
And last night they went to Bootlegger where
Bruce played the vibraphone.
Nancy Beckerbauer was happy because she had
a wonderful afternoon. It was an excellent band
concert. She thanked Al and Mary Ann.
Jason Brown ($5) was said because he had to
take his oldest daughter to the orthodontist as
she needs braces. His second daughter also
needs braces. It will cost him $9,000 between
the two of them.
