Parents and Students,
Smyrna High School is offering a Calculator rental program. The rental fee is $25 (nonreturnable) and will allow you to keep the calculator for the entire school year. The
attached rental agreement must be filled out completely and accompanied with a $25
payment (checks made out to Smyrna High School).
You will be responsible for the calculator. Grades and/or transcripts will be held until the
calculator is returned in good condition. If the calculator is lost, damaged, or stolen you
will be responsible for replacement cost.
There are fewer calculators available for rent than we have students who need them. You
may choose not to rent a calculator. They may be purchased from the school for $87.00
(quantities are VERY limited)or from a store. However, if you plan to rent a calculator,
please do so as soon as possible. This is a first come first serve offer.

RENTAL AGREEMENT FOR GRAPHING CALCULATORS
A rental fee of $25 will be charged for each graphing calculator. Batteries will not be included.
Calculators should be returned in good working order. Calculators will be returned to the math
teacher in May.
I hereby agree that I will be responsible for the graphing calculator used by my child. I further
agree that I will reimburse Smyrna High School for the current replacement cost of the graphing
calculator if it, or any part of it, is damaged, destroyed, stolen, or misplaced while being used by
my child during the scholastic year 2009-2010.
Replacement costs:
Calculator: $87.00
Calculator Cover: $10
Main Battery Cover: $10
Back-Up Battery Cover: $10
Set of Rubber Grips (grips can not be purchased individually): $10
I understand that my child is not permitted to loan his/her calculator to another child, because
calculators are often lost or stolen due to irresponsibility. If a rental calculator is found and
returned to the math department, the following actions will be taken:
 The first offense: the calculator will be returned to the student and documented.
 The second offense: the calculator will be kept for a period of one week.
 The third offense: the calculator will not be returned and the student will lose rental
privileges for the remainder of the school year.
