Science teachers from schools within reach of London are invited to FREE TO ATTEND INSET
events at St Marylebone School, W1U 4AZ, Site B location. Jon Clarke, Teaching and Learning
Coach for the Stimulating Physics Network, will be leading the third of a series of sessions.
Each session is part of a series of training opportunities but is also discrete.
Light - KS3 Waves, KS4 Lenses – Wednesday 23rd March – 2pm – 4pm
This will focus on:
Supporting non-specialist teachers of physics teaching light – building from KS3 ideas of waves to
KS4 refraction
A fun opening activity – making 50 balls invisible
KS3 Magnetism KS4 Electromagnetism – Wednesday 22nd June – 2pm – 4pm
This will focus on:
Supporting non-specialist teachers of physics teaching electromagnetism – building up from KS3
ideas of bar magnets to KS4 discussion of the National Grid.
A fun opening activity – why does the magnet fall so slowly in a non-magnetic pipe?
Astronomy - KS3 Earth in Space, KS4 Cosmology – Wednesday 6th July – 2pm – 4pm
This will focus on:
Supporting non-specialist teachers of physics teaching astronomy – building up from KS3 ideas of
day & year to KS4 discussion of the Big Bang
A fun opening activity – role-play the Sun & Earth
