SEASON AND CROP COVERAGE
(RABI 2014-15 SEASON)
1.1. WEATHER CONDITIONS
 1.1. South-West Monsoon: The South-West Monsoon is crucial for the Agriculture sector. During S.W. Monsoon i.e, from 1st
June to 30th September 2014 the average rainfall 375.7 mm was received as against the normal rainfall of 554.1mm which is status
of Deficient -32%. The South-West Monsoon has been withdrawn from the State on 18-10-2014.
North-East Monsoon:
During the North East Monsoon period from 1st October to 31st December 2014, the average rainfall received in the state is 171.5 mm
as against the normal of 297.5 mm which is Deficient of -42%.
Winter Period:
During the Winter period season from 1st January to 13th January 2015, the average rainfall received in the state is 2.5 mm as against
the normal of 6.5 mm which is Scanty of -68%.
From 1st June to 13th January, 2015, Deficient rainfall recorded in the state. i.e., Rayalaseema (-44%) North Coastal (-27%), and
South-Coastal (-43%). The overall State average rainfall received in Andhra Pradesh from 1st June to 13th January, 2015 is 549.7 mm
as against Normal of 859.3 mm which is Deficient by (–36%).

III. CROP SOWINGS AND OPERATION

So far, the total area sown in the State is 18.06 lakh ha, as against the normal area of 25.89 lakh ha (70%)
when compared with Normal as on date i.e, 20.88 lakh ha, coverage is (87%).

IV. AGRICULTURAL OPERATIONS:
Harvesting of Kharif Paddy and sugarcane crops are in progress. So far 89% of the total Kharif Paddy
area harvested in the state. Cotton Pickings are also in progress.
Sowings of Rabi Crops like Black gram, Horse gram, Bengal gram, Groundnut, Sunflower, is under
progress. Transplantation of Rabi paddy is briskly going on.
Hudhud Cyclone:
Due to Hudhud Cyclone occurred on 12-10-14, it is enumerated more than 50% damage of Crops (as on
05-11-14) Paddy in an extent of 65423 Ha, Cotton in 5507 Ha, Sugarcane in 23041 Ha, Maize in 2631 Ha other
Crops in an extent of 3997 Ha in Srikakulam , Vijayanagaram, Visakhapatnam, & East Godavari Dists.
CROP CONDITION: (Rabi)
The sowing of Maize, Horse gram, Groundnut, Sesamum, Sunflower, coriander crops are in progress.
Early sown Rabi Paddy is in Vegetative to tillering Stage. Jowar, Bajra, Bengalgram, Greengram and Blackgram
are in sowing to vegetative stage. Condition of the standing crop is satisfactory.
