REPORT FOR THE 1st MEETING IN SIAULIAI (LITHUANIA) ON 25th-30th OF OCTOBER

DETAILED REPORT
25 October (Monday)
All project participants arrived to Siauliai (Lithuania). They were taken to their hotels and introduced with the agenda of the
project
26 October (Tuesday)
Discussion of project activities was held at the Siauliai university
Discussed: project idea, distribution of project activities, project meeting times.
Decided: Sweden partner will be responsible for creation of the website of the project, constant maintenance of the website
creation of the film promoting the ideas of the project. France will be responsible for preliminary preparation of the
recommendations for education system. Lithuania will be responsible for preparation of the scientific study (management).
Dates of 2nd and 3rd meetings were agreed: 2011.02.08-11 in Germany and 2011.04.11-15 in Italy.
To be discussed later: distribution of other activities and tasks of the project during next meetings.
Visited: participants visited “Salduvės” basic school and ethnographic research was implemented there. The main research issue
was: What possibilities are provided for a child with special educational needs to find one’s abilities and develop them at basic
school?
Short excursion and ethnographic social evening in Kurtuvėnai Regional Park were organized for all partners.
27 October (Wednesday)
Project activities were held in Vilnius.
Visited: Reception of the project partners at the Ministry of Education and Science, including participation of Regina Labinienė
(Head Specialist of the Division of Non-formal Education and Education Support at the Department of General Education and
Vocational Training), Aleksandra Sokolova (Head Specialist of the Division of Vocational Education and Guidance at the
Department of General Education and Vocational Training) and Daiva Vaišnorienė (Head Specialist of the Division of Lower and
Upper Secondary Education at the Department of General Education and Vocational Training) was held. Possibilities for prevocational training of children with SEN in Lithuania were discussed.
Visit to the “Versmės” secondary school was organized by dr. Alvyra Galkienė (Head of Vilnius “Versmės” school) and
ethnographic research was implemented. The main issuewas: Is there some place for a child with SEN in a secondary school?
28 October (Thursday)
Participation in international conference “Special education: from defectology towards inclusive education“ at Siauliai university.
Serge Ebersold made a presentation “Transition beyond secondary education: issues, trends and challenges”.
Participation in conference’s social evening at Ch. Frenkel’s Villa. The social evening was hosted by Šiauliai University folk
music ensemble “Saulė” (“The Sun”).
29 October (Friday)
Visited: Ethnographic research at Pavenčiai Secondary School in Kuršėnai was implemented. The main issue was: How much do
EU finances and institutional responsibility provide conditions for pre-vocational education of children with SEN?
Final discussion of the project was held at Pavenciai Secondary School.
Discussed: project aims and objectives; communication and reporting issues.
Decided: to follow aims and objectives writen in the project application.
All the instructions for activities (meetings, reporting…) were given to partners and decided that all project information will be
regularly placed on the project website (which will be done by Swedish partners) and agreed that communications between
partners will be via e-mail, telephone, fax and created website.
During the meeting in Germany Lithuania will present the report of done etnographical research.
To be discussed later: possibility to implement other (additional) tasks which are not writen in the application.
30 October (Saturday)
Participants of the project departed from Siauliai.
All parts of the report are open for discussion.
