Much of the information you need can be found in the Tutor Handbook which is located in the

Teachers Manual on Moodle and/or on the intranet

In addition, you should also consider the following when planning induction:

Students should have an assignment as early in the course as possible to allow for an early introduction to assignment work.

Team building exercises can be arranged by the College Activity Team which may help with communication in the group.

A copy of the induction timetable should be given to reception so they can direct any late arrivals to the appropriate location.

Off site activity forms can be completed during the induction period for activities planned in advance.

Monitoring and Evaluation of Induction

Tutors should explore issues arising from the induction in the first five weeks of the student tutorial programme. It should be an agenda item on the first programme meeting after induction and will be the subject of the first student focus group held in the autumn term.

Late Induction Service

It is imperative that all students on programmes over 150glh receive a comparable introduction to the College. Students who start a course late and miss the timetabled induction may not receive all the essential information they need and are unable to complete the Enrolment and

Induction certificate. From the 3 rd week of the academic year Student Services and the

Learning Resources Centre (library) offer a late induction service which gives late starting students a quick overview of the essential information. It doesn’t include vocational specific health and safety information. The service is available on demand with at least 24 hours notice.

Information on College learning facilities and resources are available on the intranet and tutors will ensure that these students register and are given access to these.
