YOU MAY ENTER A PLEA OF NOT GUILTY FOR MOST CHARGES ANY WORKDAY FROM 8:30 A.M. UNTIL 4:30 P.M. FOR SOME CHARGES, YOU MAY PLEAD GUILTY EVERYDAY FROM 8:30 A.M. UNTIL 4:30 P.M. BECAUSE THERE ARE A VARIETY OF MISDEMEANORS AND INFRACTIONS, THERE MAY BE SOME VARIATIONS TO THE PROCEDURES WHICH ARE OUTLINED BELOW. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CALL BONDS AND FINES AT 236-7273. THIS NEW PROCEDURE DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU IF YOU RECEIVE A MISDEMEANOR TICKET AND ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 18. THERE IS A SEPARATE PROCEDURE ESTABLISHED FOR YOU. CALL JUVENILE COURT AT 234-1087 PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY: TRAFFIC COURT/ARRAIGNMENTS: If you are charged with these charges: I.C. 18-7905, Stalking; I.C. 18-918, Domestic Assault or Battery; I.C. 39-6312, Violation of a protection Order and 18-920, Violation of a No Contact Order, you must come to traffic court, Room 119, on or before your scheduled court date by 1:15 p.m.. If you are not charged with one of the above, you have the choice of appearing. You may choose to appear before the judge in traffic court or arraignments on your scheduled court date to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty OR you may choose to plead not guilty in Bonds and Fines, Room 215 or the Arraignment Office, Room 118 every workday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. NOT GUILTY: You may come in person, to Bonds and Fines or the Arraignment Office, Room 118 anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. to enter a plea of not guilty and to sign for an Order to Appear for Pretrial before the clerk on all charges on or before your scheduled court date except for: I.C. 18-7905, Stalking; I.C. 18-918, Domestic Assault or Battery; I.C. 39-6312, Violation of a protection Order and 18-920, Violation of a No Contact Order. You must appear in arraignment court for these four charges. APPLICATION FOR PUBLIC DEFENDER: If you want to apply for a public defender, you must go, in person, to the Judicial Enforcement Office, Room 103. Before you will be considered, you need to bring with you your most current pay stub, proof of social security income, proof of unemployment benefits, other documentation verifying your current income and other household income including spouse’s income. The Judicial Enforcement Officers will help you fill out the forms, will verify the information you provide, and will review your application against the Administrative Guidelines set by the Court. If you qualify according to the guidelines, a public defender will be appointed and a pretrial date will be scheduled for you. You may be required to pay an initial reimbursement for public defender services and at the conclusion of your case, the Court will determine additional reimbursement amounts, when appropriate. GUILTY PLEA: There are some charges outlined by statute and by Administrative Order that you can plead guilty to in Bonds and Fines. You may call Bonds and Fines at 236-7273 to see if your charge qualifies. There are other misdemeanor charges that you will have to appear before the judge in order to plead guilty. NO INSURANCE TICKET: If you had insurance coverage at the time that you received the ticket, but did not have your ‘Certificate of Liability” in your car, you may bring the original ‘Certificate of Liability’ to Bonds and Fines on or before your scheduled appearance date. If you did not have insurance at the time, you may come to the courthouse and enter a plea of guilty or not guilty. Once you plead guilty or are found guilty, you may be subject to the Automatic License Suspension Law administered by the Department of Driver’s Services. Call 236-7273 for further clarification. PAYING BY CREDIT CARD: If your charge allows you to enter a plea of guilty without appearing before the judge, you may call 1-888-462-1148 from any phone to pay for your charge with a credit card. You will need your ticket number and will be charged a convenience fee by the company handling your payment. You may also pay by a VISA or MasterCard credit card at Bonds and Fines in the courthouse. We can take payment from any debit card at Bonds and Fines in the courthouse. There is a $3.00 convenience fee charged for payments made through Bonds and Fines. Their phone number is 208-236-7272. COURTHOUSE SECURITY: Because of courthouse security, it is easiest to enter the courthouse with no purses, backpacks, bags, cell phones, pagers, Palm Pilots, etc. If you only bring a pen, paperwork and money, when necessary, your entry will be much easier. PAYMENT BOX IN FRONT OF COURTHOUSE: There is a payment drop box located in front of the courthouse, 624 E. Center, Pocatello, Idaho. You may sign the back of your ticket, attach your payment and place it in the box. We empty the drop box every business day. Remember, all your actions must be completed on or before your scheduled court date. Failure to do so may cause a warrant for your arrest to be issued! It is your responsibility to provide the courts and the Department of Driver Services with your most current address.
