National Honor Society
Florence B. Dearing Chapter
Hartland High School
I am proud to be a member of the Florence B. Dearing Chapter of the National Honor Society of Hartland
High School.
I accept the honor of recognition as a student who reflects outstanding accomplishments in the areas of
academics, character, leadership and service.
I accept the responsibility for maintaining the standards of scholarship, leadership, service, and character
that were used as the basis for my selection.
I recognize that in the area of academics I must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.500.
In the area of service, I will strive to maintain my prior level of participation and sacrifice in school or class
activities and in community service projects. I am aware of the minimum 10 hour service commitment
for each semester, 5 of which must be NHS sponsored events. I am responsible for logging my hours
served before the end of each semester.
I will continue to be a leader in my school and community, creating a positive influence and attitude in
school or classroom activities. I will be dependable and initiate projects in the offices I hold and within the
organizations to which I belong.
In the area of character, I will strive to be a positive influence in the school and attempt to reflect a positive
image for myself, Hartland High School and the National Honor Society. I recognize that behaviors such
as cooperation, courtesy, respect for others, honesty, compliance with school policy and adherence to civil
laws, including but not limited to those laws as pertaining to alcohol and other drugs, are all part of
maintaining the character required of the National Honor Society student.
I acknowledge that I have been advised that I have an obligation as a member of the National Honor
Society to uphold these standards of conduct. Failure to comply with these obligations will result in
disciplinary action. For flagrant violations of civil law or school rules no warning is necessary.
Disciplinary measures may be taken by the Faculty Council and advisor immediately.
I have received and I understand the Discipline Procedures of the Florence B. Dearing Chapter of the
National Honor Society.
I accept the challenge, honor and responsibility as a member of the National Honor Society to:
1.
2.
3.
4.
Create an enthusiasm for scholarship

Promote leadership
Develop character
