Ewout Pierreux quintet plays a repertoire of own compositions and some famous old
standards, all arranged in an open way to leave as much space for improvisation as possible.
The band has a modern, yet warm and uncomplicated sound, rooted in bebop and the
emphasis is on the joy of playing together and the quest for interaction.

KLEZMER is a musical tradition of the Jews of Eastern Europe. The genre consists largely of

Michel Mainil (tenor and soprano sax), Alain Rochette (piano), José Bedeur (bass), Antoine Cirri
(drums)
Born in the cradle of Belgian Surrealism - La Louvière - in 1955, Michel MAINIL began his
musical studies at an early age at the Conservatory of La Louvière (saxophone, clarinet,
theory, harmony). Very active on the Belgian jazz scene, Mainil has been part of many bands as
a leader. Many bands of traditional jazz also brought him in as clarinettist.
His own quartet has recorded a CD live last year at the Village. "Reflections in Blue" will be
presented during this special concert.

and famous jazz drummers. Cooperation has brought him together with many musicians from
Europe, Russia and the United States. One can hear a fusion of acoustic and electronic music,
the mainstream and the non-mainstream, jazz and non-jazz on all albums produced by him. In
April 2008, Tanel was awarded the title of “Estonia’s jazz musician of the year “the Elion Jazz
Award”, the most prestigious jazz-related acknowledgement in Estonia.
