WAGES AND SALARIES, TIME OF PAYMENT - REPEALED AS INCONSISTENT Act of Apr. 24, 1913, P.L. 114, No. 76 Cl. 43 AN ACT Regulating the time of payment of wages and earnings, and providing a penalty for violation hereof. Compiler's Note: Section 3 of Act 43 of 1971 provided that Act 76 is repealed insofar as it is inconsistent with Act 43. Section 1. Be it enacted, &c., That unless otherwise stipulated in the contract of hiring, each person, firm, or corporation employing any person, other than at an annual salary, shall pay to such person his or her earnings or wages semi-monthly. The first payment shall be made between the first and fifteenth day of each month, and the second payment shall be made between the fifteenth and the last day of each month. Section 2. Any person, firm, or corporation that shall violate any of the provisions of this act shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof before any alderman, magistrate, or justice of the peace of the proper county shall be sentenced to pay a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100). Compiler's Note: Section 28 of Act 207 of 2004 provided that any and all references in any other law to a "district justice" or "justice of the peace" shall be deemed to be references to a magisterial district judge. Section 3. Nothing in this act shall prohibit the payment of wages or earnings oftener than semi-monthly.
