A1.2 Identify the resultant vector and component vectors on vector diagrams.
Physics: Algebra/Trig, 3rd ed., Eugene Hecht
pp. 30 – 32, 34 – 39, 50
Study section 2.6 entitled “Some Vector Algebra” on pages 30 to 32. Do the
“EXPLORING PHYSICS ON YOUR OWN” activity, trying at least three different
permutations.
Now, study section 2.8, “Components and Vector Addition,” on pages 34 to 39. After
practising with the CD-ROM (see below) or the link, attempt problems 71 to 75 on page
50. For each question, construct an accurate scale drawing using a straight edge and
protractor. On questions 72 to 75, label the component vectors and the resultant vector.
