PUPPY PLACEMENT We do the Pat Hasting’s Puppy Puzzle to evaluate pups for show/breed quality at 8 weeks. We also do Suzanne Clothier’s CARAT temperament test, eye CERF, and take the pups herding at 7 weeks to determine drive and instinct. We take the process of lining up pups with the right homes very seriously, and have done a great job in the past putting pups in homes where they have the best chance for success. We will not be able to “offer” you a specific pup until 8 weeks, when all of the tests/evaluations are done. Of course, if you are not interested in the pup/pups we think are suited to you, we will return your deposit, or wait for another litter. It’s hard to not know which puppy is the best fit, but worth the wait. There are several wonderful litters on the way. One litter, Seven & Lucas, will be raised at our home, the others with their loving families. For the first time in EIGHT YEARS, Bill & I are planning on keeping a puppy. We are repeating two of our favorite crosses for performance, Gigi & Adonis, and Seven & Lucas. Resulting performance pups from these crosses include Fling, Bella, Bazooka & Fender. Litters: 1. Gigi & Adonis – bred by Wigglebutt, raised by Kathy & Ron in Morocco, IN, due May 22nd, 2011. Wigglebutt is placing all pups… 2. Seven & Lucas - bred by Wigglebutt, raised by Angie & Bill in Valparaiso, IN, due May 23rd, 2011 Wigglebutt is placing all pups… 3. Sierra and Fitz – bred by Minisoda aussie, raised by Lori in Minnesota, all pups will be placed by Lori http://www.minisodaaussies.com/litters.html http://www.vmdb.org/history.html (CERF) http://www.dogwoodfarmherding.com/ (Where we do the herding test) http://www.flyingdogpress.com/clothier/introCARAT2010.pdf (CARAT Temperament Test) While we try our best to make good breeding decisions and do clearances on our dogs, health issues can and do arise. Pretty much any illness a person can get, a dog can get too. Some illnesses are more common for Australian Shepherds. Please take the time to understand the more common illnesses in the breed. http://www.ashgi.org/ Here's a fun one to understand coloring in Aussies http://www.ashgi.org/color/index.htm. We will be doing early stimulation to develop their little brains, and clicker training. Please take the time before the pups are ready to come home with you to read up on training. We will send home an Ultimate Puppy Tool Kit. This is a great guide to socialization and training. Another resource that we HIGHLY recommend is Winner of the IPDTA Innovation Award! Clicker Puppy teaches you how to train adorable puppies just weeks old the basics for good canine citizenship ... plus some fun tricks. And all the training is done by children! It's a great, unimposing way to learn how to train for puppy owners of any age. http://www.clickertraining.com/store I bet you didn't think you would get homework when you went to get a pup! <grin> Attached is our deposit agreement, please fill out and return in the next few weeks. Also attached are contracts - you don't need to fill out now, but please read and let me know any questions. Companion/Non-Breeding dogs are $1200 for these litters - see Companion_Non_Breeding.doc. This contract will be used if the puppy will be spayed/neutered. This includes performance dogs that will be non-breeding, even if they are breeding quality. We want our performance pups to have super structure to hold up to the strain of being an athlete! Partnership/Breeding/Performance Potential pups are $1000. Bill & I have decided that we do not want to have a "kennel" environment for our dogs with more dogs than we can keep in our home as family - we keep it at 4 critters over the age of 8, and possibly one puppy! Got our fingers crossed. The only way we can continue our program is with partnerships. We have had great success in the past, and enjoy the collaboration with families that are "into their dogs". We enjoy introducing people to new activities they can do with their dogs, and take great pride in the accomplishments families have with their best friend. We love it when folks are flexible on getting a breeding/non-breeding dog, it leaves us open to just placing the best dog for their family with them. Blab... blab... blab... Can't think of anything else right now, but we look forward to you joining the Wigglebutt family. Angela Ogle minis@wigglebuttaussies.com www.wigglebuttaussies.com 219.465.1624
