Akola Forest Division was established in 1964. The Geographical area of this
division is Akola Disst.5428.84. Sq.Km. & Washim Disst 5133.00 In which actual forest
cover is 777.28 Sq.Km. under the control of Forest Department. The total area is
distributed in Patur, Malegaon,Barshi takli and Manora. Tehsils. Details are as underSr.

The percentage of forest cover is about 7.34%, which is much less than that of
National Forest Policy target of 33%. Therefore it is very important to protect these
forests from illicit cutting, illegal grazing, and fires encroachment etc.
Network of forest division for protectionAkola Forest Division consists of Forests in Akola district and Washim
district. For effective working, Akola Forest Division is divided into five ranges, 21
rounds, and 87 beats.

The forest area in Akala district is 447.87 Sq.Km. and in Washim district is

Compensation for crop damage by wild life –
Due to the effective implementation Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972, the
population of herbivorous wild animal increased. It sometimes causes damage to the
crops.
To compensate crop damages, to the farmer has issued, the Govt. Resolution
No. WLP-1094/Pk-115/f-1/d/-23.8.2004. As per this Resolution, the compensation for
crop damage will be sanctioned @ Rs. 2000/- per ha. But there is limit of Rs. 5000/-per
family /per year
The conditions for this compensation are as under1. Only those damages will be considered only, which are carried out by Wild
bores, Deers, Nilgai and Wild Elephants

Crop damage rate is Rs.2000/-per ha. and the maximum limit of this is
Rs.5000/- per family per year .
3. The procedure adopted for this compensation is as undera) Landowner should inform the incident within three days from date of
incident, to the nearest Forest Guard, Forester or Range Forest Officer.
b) After that, the committee of Round officer, Sarpanch and Gram sevak/
Talathi will make inquiry within 10 days. For this, they will out spot
panchanama, measurement of area of crop damage, verification of eye
witness and cost of crop damages.
c) Deputy Conservator of Forest will sanction the compensation within 90
days for this incident.

If the damage is in encroached Forest Area.
The farm under the ownership of forest offenders booked under Indian
Forest Act, 1927 and Wild Life Protection Act 1972.
Farmer, whose 4 or more animals are allowed to graze in the Forest.
Those who posses gun license for the protection of crop.
The farms in the villages in which offence of poaching was registered in
the period of one month from the date of damage.
Compensation to the person injured by wild animalAs per the Govt. Resolution No./WLP-1001/Pk-220/f-1/D/- 7/7/04, any person
who is injured by wild animal such as Tiger, Panther, Hyena, Wild Elephant, Wolf, Fox,
Wild dogs, Bison, Crocodile and Wild Bores and who will be permanently disabled or
dead due to injury (only adult), the sum of Rs. 200000/- will be paid to his nominee. In
case of person who is seriously injured will be paid compensate of Rs.50000/-. Any
person who is injured casually will be paid compensate to the limit medical expenditure
otherwise, however the maximum compensation of Rs. 7500/- will be paid to the person
who is treated in Private Hospital if necessary.
As for as possible treatment should be carried out in Govt. Hospital. The medical
certificate should be verified by the District Civil Surgeon and the Panchanama should be
written be drawn by concerned Range Forest Officer.
Any domestic animal such as Cow, Buffalo, Bullock if will killed by wild
animal, will be compensated 75% of the market cost of the animal or Rs. 9000/whichever is less.
Any domestic animal such as Goat, Sheep etc, if killed by wild animal, will be
compensated 75% of the market cost or Rs. 3000/- whichever is less.
The conditions for compensations are as underApplication should be submitted within 48 hours to the nearest Forest
Officer. The Panchanama will be carried out by Forester and Post Partem Report will be
carried out by of nearest Govt. Veterinary doctor.
Otherwise the application of compensation will not be considered.
Forest Department gives permits for to fell the following
scheduled trees only.

Any dead fruit trees or which have become harmful to crop should be considered for
permission.
Timber depot of Forest Department
The auction of timber which is felled by department under the coupe
management and which is seized by department will be carried out monthly in two
authorized timber depot wise Medshi depot
Tq. Malegaon, Dist. Washim and
Shendurjana depot ,Tq. Manora, Dist. Washim . Any person or farmer is permitted to
take part in the Auction. Those who want to take part in the Auction should deposit 10%
of bid amount as e.m.d. If the person is not successful in auction the e.m.d. amount of the
person will be returned. The e.m.d. deposited by the successful person will be adjusted
towards 1/4th of the Sale price. Remaining 3/4th Sale price will be remitted through
Government Challan within 60 days of auction date. After that purchaser can lift the
timber from the depot with due transit pass. In addition to the auction price taxes @
12.5% as VAT, @ 12% as F.D.T. and @ 2.5% as Income tax to be paid by purchasers.
If someone has not paid the due amount within 60 days. Then 20% interest
and 10%fine will be recovered from that person. If that person does not remit the required
amount within 90 days then the lot will be auctioned at the risk. and cost of the purchaser.
If amount realized if is less than the original bid the difference will be recovered through
R.C.C. with the consultant of Tahsildar.
Fodder and Fodder passes
Grazing is prohibited in the Gawat Ramana. There are an auctioned preferably
to the Grampanchayat or villagers.
Such auctioned grass, should be cut and carried out, no cattle allowed to graze in Gawat
Ramanas.
The villagers are allowed to graze their cattle on authorized grazing pass in the
respective grazing bits which are issued by Forester from dated 1st July to 31st July of the
same year for every grazier has to keep the grazing pass with him during the grazing
season.
