ALL STATE NOMINATION COMMITTEE GUIDELINES The committee shall nominate a pre-designated number of eligible players from a list of nominees submitted by the membership, on a specific date. The committee shall be comprised of 10-14 coaches with at least 2-at large members. This committee will be determined prior to the season. Every voting member must hold a current membership in the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America). Every attempt will be made to have each league within our current alignment represented in the committee. The committee chairperson (RP) and the coordinator of the association (AF) will finalize the committee. It is the chairperson’s responsibility to make sure the committee convenes on the specified date for voting and nomination. The nominating coach will make a brief presentation about the nominated player. The presentation should highlight the nominee’s soccer accomplishments and will be limited between two to three minutes. It is here where questions can be answered and a brief discussion may take place. After all presentations are completed, the committee will convene to discuss all nominations and vote. The vote will be based on a scale of one to ten in descending order. One representing each member’s top nominee and ten representing each member’s tenth best player. After the numbers are totaled, the number of coaches voting will derive the nominee’s averages. The player with the lowest overall average will be the top rated player and so on. Prior to this meeting, (at a date determined by the committee chair), nominating coaches must hand in a completed form to the chairperson of the committee (form available for download) detailing the intentions of the coach to submit his player. This form should include player’s career accomplishments and relevant statistics. The coach shall sign the form, attesting to the integrity and accuracy of the information. Failure in compliance with any of these measures, or providing false information may result in that player being eliminated from consideration. 1- 2- 3- 4- 5- Specific Policy and Relevant Information Day to submit nominees will be due Thursday October 29th, about ten days after our “playoff seeding” meeting. This will give players and coaches a chance to update their resume and are as accurate as possible and coaches a chance to see some of the players play who are nominated. Email the forms to me at ralph_pascarella@mail.seaford.k12.ny.us As chairperson, I will collect each nominee’s form and make up booklets for the committee to review on the night of the voting which will be Monday, Nov 2nd at Carle Place HS at 6:30pm. If you are a coach on the committee and you are also nominating a player, you will make your presentation then join the committee for the remaining presentation process. The form used to nominate your player is the only form that will be discussed and collected for the committee’s perusal. If the forms are not typed, we will not accept your nomination When nominating your player, its up to you as his coach to emphasize what you think is important. There seems to be different opinions with this subject. HS soccer is important, but the people/coaches outside Nassau who vote upstate recognize some of these players by their outside clubs rather than their HS teams. It’s up to you to promote your player as you see fit.
