EMRO Villa 11, Block 4, El Togarayeen City, Al Mokattam, Cairo Egypt Tel/Fax: +202-507-6946. Email: info@emaurescue.org; www.emaurescue.org International Cat/Kitten Egyptian Mau Adoption Agreement I, , (full name of Adopter), promise to care for my adopted cat to the best of my ability. This includes the basic necessities of life such as healthy food and fresh water daily, a safe and comfortable place to live and play, as well as a loving and affectionate home environment, and veterinary services when required to any kitten /cat showing signs of illness or distress. In addition: The cat will not be declawed. The cat will be spayed or neutered prior to arrival. If the cat for any reason has to be sent unaltered (whole) it will not be sold, leased, given, serviced or otherwise transferred to any other party while the cat is unaltered. Shipping and any other extra expenses required for export/import such as possible required testing, extra preventative treatments, quarantine, veterinary services, customs duties, pet escort fee etc. are the responsibility of the adopter. I understand that EMRO will want to know the well-being of the cat, and will follow-up to check on the health and care of my new pet. I will inform EMRO of the arrival of the cat and give periodic emails and e-photos as I can, and EMRO reserves the right to post some of the cat information or photos on the internet website after adoption. EMRO can only guarantee the health of the cat as approved by the vet for travel, with the required country’s vaccines, basic check up, etc. It is considered good animal husbandry to isolate any new addition to a multi cat household for a period of time (several days to a week) while getting a vet checkup. No cat or kitten is to be euthanized without the prior knowledge and consent of EMRO except in the case that a veterinarian deems it the only humane alternative. The cat will not be given or sold to any laboratory or for any animal testing. We recommend that the Mau be kept with an additional cat companion, or other animal, especially if it is to be left alone for long periods of time during the day or week (eg., If owner works outside the home), as it is a highly sociable cat and requires frequent companionship. We recommend that Egyptian Mau cats and kittens be vaccinated with a killed vaccine only, as some may have adverse reactions to modified live vaccines. Ask your veterinarian what vaccine they use before any future vaccine is administered. Leukemia vaccine is not necessary if the animal will be kept inside only, and is the only cat pet. If at any time I can no longer fulfill these requirements, I will make every effort to find a suitable home for this cat. I promise not to sell this animal for profit, or abandon it in any way, including turning it loose in the street. Only in the most dire situation may the cat be released to a no-kill shelter if no other alternative home can be found. EMRO needs to be informed if the kitten/cat changes home, in order to keep track of it and to be assured that is OK.
