Collaboration between Secusmart and the University of Düsseldorf Solving the demand for specialists: Secusmart cultivates intensive relationships with the specialists of tomorrow Düsseldorf, July 7, 2015 – IT and telecommunications are a growing market, as students at the University of Düsseldorf are well aware. And some of them are already taking advantage of the opportunity to get a taste of how things work at international company Secusmart (www.secusmart.com), a subsidiary of Blackberry, working in various departments including backend and software development and actively contributing to high-tech innovations. "We are delighted to be collaborating closely with an innovative company like Secusmart. This is how scholarship can be converted into tangible results and young ideas can complement existing IT and developer expertise", says Dr. Dirk Ebling, Vice President for Research and Transfer at the University of Düsseldorf. Secusmart – just a stone's throw away By 2018, all the faculties of the University of Düsseldorf will have moved to their new home near to Secusmart. "Once we have completed the move at the University of Düsseldorf, ‘Media Informatics’ students will be within walking distance of Secusmart. It couldn't be better for us, as it will put us first in line to tap into a pool of qualified specialists", says Dr. Hans-Christoph Quelle, Managing Director of Secusmart. Joint future development The five „Media Informatics” students currently working at Secusmart all completed a hands-on internship for a semester at the company first. The students include: Gregor Hildebrand, who is writing his bachelor's dissertation at Secusmart, and Martin Busch, also in his 10th semester at the university. Leon Hörner has been part of the backend team for two years and is in his 8th semester, as is Christian Wasser. "Secusmart is on the path to success in a growing market. Having the opportunity to get stuck in can only be beneficial for the future", says Christian. And that view is backed up by David Kurka, in the 10th semester of his bachelor degree and already with two years behind him at Secusmart. In a team with Secusmart developer Jan-Peter Strömann, he is developing an app that will be used in the German armed forces with the SecuSUITE for BlackBerry 10.
