DIDSBURY AND ELIZABETH GASKELL FACULTY AND CAMPUS
ADMINISTRATION (STUDENT AND ACADEMIC SERVICES)
Student Coursework Submission Guidance for
Students
From September 2008 Students will submit ALL course work using the “post-box”
system which will be operated by the Student Life Office. This system will allow all
students to submit assignments during University opening times and not just “office
opening times”. We hope you will find the new system more convenient and less
time consuming.
What to do to submit your coursework
Where do I find the Boxes?
Located in the Reception area of each Campus you will find 2 Blue Coursework
Submission Post-Boxes. These boxes are lockable and tamperproof and the
contents can only be accessed by the Student Life Office Administration staff.
How do I submit my assignment?
For each assignment you will be required to complete a Coursework Submission
Form which will be available next to the boxes or from the Student Life Office. An
example is given in Appendix 1 – however, please use the forms available next to
the boxes or issued by your unit leader as these are carbonated. You will be
required to complete a form for each assignment you submit.
For example - If you have 2 or 3 pieces of work for one unit please make it clear
which piece/pieces you are submitting. Eg. Part 1 – Research proposal.
It is essential that you fully complete the Coursework Submission Form to avoid any
misunderstanding. The most important detail on the form, along with your name and
MMU ID number is the UNIT CODE number. This is the number we will be using to
record your work has been received. If you are unsure of the Unit Code number
your Unit Leader should inform you of this before the due hand-in date. If not, either
the Programmes Office or Student Life Office will be able to give you this vital piece
of information.
Once the form has been fully completed it should then be securely attached to the
front of your assignment and posted in the Blue Submission Box.
What if my assignment is too large for the Post Box?
For larger pieces of work which do not fit easily into the “post-box” you will still be
able to submit directly to the Student Life Office. However, please note that this
service will only be available during normal Office hours. On very special occasions’
your unit tutor may make alternative arrangements and will let you what these are in
advance of the submission date.
How do I get a receipt for my submitted assignment?
The standard deadline time will be 4:00pm on the set deadline date. Any work
received in the box after this time will be deemed as late.
All students will receive a receipt via their MMU e-mail address. We aim to send
this no later than 2 working days after the deadline submission date. Students who
fail to submit will also receive an e-mail, informing them of the standard university
regulations regarding missed deadlines.
PLEASE NOTE THAT NO WRITTEN RECEIPTS WILL BE ISSUED BY THE
STUDENT LIFE OFFICE
If you have any questions regarding the new arrangements please contact
your unit tutor or the Student Life Office telephone
