43rd EASTERN INDIANA SWINE SHOW Thursday, July 22, 2010 - 4:30 P.M. Delaware County Fairgrounds, Muncie, IN. The On-Foot Show will start at 4:30 P.M. with the order of show being 4-H Senior Showmanship, 4-H Jr. Showmanship, 4-H Beginning Showmanship, and Open Class. Carcass data will be collected by electronic scanning of live hogs, tabulated, and distributed at the end of the show. Gilts and barrows will show in same class by weight. Animals may be taken home after the show OR sent on to market at market price. (This is possible since the "carcass" data is electronically determined at weighing time, not at a processing plant.) Owners must give a final unchangeable decision on home or market at scales. No advance entries or payments are needed. All paper work will be handled prior to the scales at weighing time. Carcass placing will be determined by electronic scanning with $7.00 scanning fee collected at weighing for each hog. All hogs remain the responsibility of the exhibitor if condemned by the packer. HOGS OTHER THAN DELAWARE COUNTY 4-H ONES ALREADY AT FAIRGROUNDS: Must arrive using northwest fairgrounds (West Centennial) entrance between 11:30 A.M. and 2:30 P.M. Premise ID will be checked as animals are unloaded. Hogs will be weighed and scanned as quickly as possible. Keep driveways open for livestock truckers. PLEASE DON'T ARRIVE AT THE LAST MINUTE. Exhibitors must be prepared to provide information on breed, class, home, or market, etc., before hog weighing. NO HOGS WILL BE WEIGHED OR SCANNED WITHOUT PREMISE ID NUMBER RECORDED ON SHOW ENTRY FORM. DELAWARE COUNTY 4-H HOGS ALREADY ON FAIRGROUNDS: (1) Remain the responsibility of the 4-H member or family until loaded on the truck for market or home. (2) Will be weighed 9 A.M.-10:30 A.M., Thursday, July 22, WITH 4-Hers or parents present. SHOW CLASSIFICATION: The purpose of this "ON-FOOT" and "CARCASS" Hog Show is to help the producer recognize and produce the type of meat that the consumer wants.
