Introductions a. Review of membership on the Academic Programs Steering Committee. b. Review of membership on the University-wide Steering Committee. 2. Review of minutes from meeting of May 14, 2002 3. Status report on initial review of new SACS/COC requirements and standards by the University-wide Steering Committee. [See Attachment A.] a. Identification of requirements and standards pertaining directly to individual divisions and departments. b. Identification of requirements and standards pertaining indirectly to individual divisions and departments. c. Identification of words and phrases within each requirement and standard requiring further definition prior to our being able to assess whether UWF is in compliance or not. d. Identification of requirements and standard requiring a policy and whether such a UWF policy exists. e. Preliminary identification of requirements and standards about which there is a question as to whether UWF is in compliance or not. 4. Summary of visits to FSU and USF. a. Carl Backman visited FSU and USF to share information about upcoming SACS/COC reviews. FSU is in the Class of 2004, the first group of institutions to use the new requirements and standards outside of the pilot group. USF is in the class of 2005, as is UWF. [Subsequently, it was learned that FGCU is also in the Class of 2005.] 5. Review of key activities for fall semester 2002. a. Completion of Initial Review Task. b. Identification of requirements and standards for which UWF may not be in compliance. c. Identification of requirements and standards for which definitional work needs to be done. d. Identification of requirements and standards for which identification and/or development of UWF rules must be done. e. Initial entry of divisional and departmental strategic plans into the University Planning Information Center’s strategic planning Web site. 6. Preview of University Planning Information Center (UPIC) strategic planning Web site [ http://upic.uwf.edu ] a. Web site will have a strategic planning component with information pertaining to each unit’s vision, mission, values, strategic goals (including assessments), summary of planning modifications, resource needs, support service needs, budget request, and annual report. In addition, academic unit strategic plans will include information pertaining to academic program inventories, program reviews, and accreditations. b. Web site will have a profiles component through which units can identify information about the department such as staffing and special programs. Through the profile page links can be made to unit Web sites and to key documents. Each profile page will contain links to the University Fact Book, the University Budget, and the most recent Majors by Program report. 7. Departmental strategic plans and strategic goals outcome/output statements. a. Meetings will be scheduled through each dean’s office to share information with department chairs regarding use of the strategic planning component of the UPIC Web site. Particular attention will be given to work on specifying strategic goal outcome and output statements and associated assessment measures. b. Following the group meetings with the chairs, meetings will be scheduled with individual departments upon invitation of the department chair. c. A prototype academic department strategic plan will be available through the UPIC strategic planning Web site. 8. Program reviews for 2002-2003. [See Attachment B.] a. A list of the program reviews scheduled for 2002-2003 was distributed and discussed. [Subsequent to this meeting the schedule of program reviews has been modified to coordinate better the program review and disciplinespecific accreditation reviews.] b. Up-to-date information about program reviews is available through the University Planning Office. 9. Online faculty credentials reviews, curriculum vitae, and course syllabi. a. It is expected that SACS/COC will need electronic access for some level of review of faculty credentials and course syllabi. b. The College of Arts and Sciences has been developing an electronic filing system for faculty curriculum vitae and for course syllabi. [ http://uwf.edu/cas/intranet/search/fslisting.cfm ] c. The College is modifying its data entry system for faculty credentials (based on the Faculty Qualifications Worksheet: Compliance with SACS Criteria) by updating the form to reflect the new SACS standards pertaining to faculty qualifications. d. The College anticipates sharing its faculty qualifications and course syllabi electronic filing systems with the other two colleges. 10. Schedule for future meetings of the Academic Programs Steering Committee. a. Will hold at least one additional meeting during the fall semester. b.
