THE ARRESTED ACCUSED ARE:-

1. Satish Gupta age 31 years s/o Ved Ram Gupta r/o L-7, Top Floor Green Park, Extn.

,New Delhi,

2. Virender Kumar Gupta age 32 years s/o Chandra Prakash Gupta r/o Khoda Colony, II

Pusta, Ghaziabad, UP,

INCIDENT AND TEAM:

On 26.07.09 at about 10 pm, the guard Vinod Kumar Singh deployed at L-8, Green

Park Extension in the office of Macawber Vee Kay Pvt. Ltd., which deals in ash handling equipments in thermal power plants reported that two assailants barged at the premises and started scuffling with him and another employee Satish Gupta. One of the assailants hit him with a rod like object and confined both of them in a room in the basement of the building and tied their hands and feets.

Thereafter, the assailants went upstairs and broke open the wooden almirah and used the digital code of electronic safe and managed to open it and took away cash around Rs. 91 lacs. The guard and the employee managed to get them untied and informed the owner with the help of other guards of neighbouring premises.

A case vide FIR No. 269 dated 27.07.09 u/s 394 IPC was registered at Police Station Hauz Khas and investigation taken up.

In order to nab the criminals and to recover the robbed cash immediately, a team of

Police Station Hauz Khas consisting of Inspr. Virender Jain Inspr. (Inv), SI Chandra Shekhar ,

HCs Islammuddin, Hukam Chand, Dara Singh, Raunak Singh, Laxmi Cts. Jagdish, Sanjeev,

Pawan was formed under the supervision of Inspr.Atul Kumar Verma, SHO/Hauz Khas and Shri

Mehar Singh, ACP/Hauz Khas.

INVESTIGATION, ARREST & INTERROGATION:

After registration of the case it came to notice that the actual loss of money was around

Rs.91 Lacs. Therefore, the owner of the company was examined to know about the persons who were dealing with the cash. From the examination of the scene of crime it was found that it was an electronics digital safe in which this money was kept and the same was opened with the help of digital code and no force was used to open the safe. A team of experts from Finger Prints Buerau was called to examine the scene of crime.

It became clear from the scene of crime that somebody who knew the digital code opened electronics safe and the same was not possible without the active collusion of some insider. On the basis of this strong suspicion all the employees of the company including the guard and the other employee Satish who were present at the time of incident were interrogated.

Several contradictions surfaced after the examination of these two employees.

The guard Vinod was present inside the kitchen when Satish cried for help, immediately after this two persons started hitting Vinod with the rod and Satish was no where around at that time. The guard was seriously injured and profusely bleeding and after that he was tied with a rope and a cloth was also tied on his mouth. After sometime, Satish appeared and he was also tied with the rope and his mouth was also tied with the help of cloths. During interrogation, Satish could not reply to the question that as to why he did not raise alarm because he was having sufficient time while both the assailants were engaged with the guard. It was also made clear during interrogation of other employees of the company that Satish used to carry cash with

Accountant Rajiv Aggarwal and most of the time he used to remain with the accountant.

Rajiv Aggarwal also told that there is possibility that Satish might have the knowledge about the digital code of the safe during the normal course of business.

On the basis of these contradictions Satish was interrogated thoroughly. Firstly, he denied his involvement in the crime but the scene of crime was reconstructed on the strong suspicion of involvement of Satish in the crime. Ultimately, he broke down and confessed his involvement in the crime. He stated that seeing the huge cash in the electronic safe, he became greedy and he conspired to commit robbery with the help of his brother-in-law Virender Kumar Gupta and two of his associates Firoz and Shokeen who also hail from his native place, who were staying together with Virender Kumar Gupta On the day of incident, all the three accused came in a TSR provided by Virender Kumar

Gupta.

Gupta remained present outside the office to keep a watch over the situation and as per the conspiracy, Satish pretended to be a victim and at the time of incident he was at the staircase while the assailants entered the kitchen where the guards were taking food. To avoid any suspicion, after hostaging of the guard, he also got himself tied by the assailants and Firoz and

Shokeen went upstairs and took away the cash from the digital safe which was already kept open by Satish who was aware of the digital coding of the safe. After the incident, the assailants went away with the cash. It was decided that Firoz and Shokeen would be given Rs.3 lacs each and rest of the amount would be divided equally between Satish and Virender.

After the success of their plan, Satish managed to get himself free and telephonically informed the owner about the incident. Accused Virender , Shokeen and Firoz went with the stolen cash on the same TSR to Indra Puram and after giving the cash Rs. 6 lacs to them ,

Virender kept the remaining cash with him. The police team immediately raided the possible hideouts of Virender at Khichripur and Indira Puram, Ghaziabad but he was not found there. Ultimately, he was arrested from Khoda Colony, Ghaziabad in the night of 27 th July

2009 and at his instance, an amount of Rs.83,21,000/- were recovered from his rented premises at Indira Puram.

PROFILE :-

Accused Satish Gupta has studied upto middle class level and was working as an electrician in the firm for last 15 years and had developed very good relations with the owners and other senior managers of the company. Basically, he hails from Village Uttershia, District

Udham Singh Nagar, Uttaranchal. He was having all inside knowledge and dealings of the cash of the company.

Accused Virender Kumar Gupta is an auto driver and also sells kerosene oil in

Khicharipur, Kalyanpuri area. He is brother-in-law of main accused Satish Gupta. He originally hails from Village Haranpur Kalan, District Aligarh, UP.

RECOVERY:

1. Cash Rs. 83.21 lacs

2. Rod used in commission of crime

3. Cloths used to tie

Investigation is in progress and efforts are being done to arrest the remaining accused

Firoz and Shaukeen, both belonging to village Uttershia, District Udham Singh Nagar,
