Position Summary:
The Behaviour Supervisor is responsible to oversee day to day work for the Behaviour
Department. He/she reviews the pertinent reports to organize the daily work of the Behaviour
Counselors to promote proper flow of animals through the shelter and to other departments that depend upon the work of this department.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years shelter experience
Minimum 1 year dog training experience
Ability to handle sometimes large, unruly dogs; fractious cats; a variety of wildlife.
Knowledgeable animal behaviour and reading canine and feline body language
Knowledge of behaviour science and Learning Theory an asset
Demonstrates skills in positive reinforcement training
Able to report observations in objective and observable terms
Exemplary customer service skills
Computer literate
Ability to work independently or as a team
Ability to work under minimal supervision
Authority:
Authority to direct the work of Behavior Counsellors and perform all assigned duties and responsibilities within established policies and procedures.
Accountability:
Directly accountable to the Behaviour Department Manager and Assistant Manager for the performance of assigned duties.
Interpersonal Relationships:
Regular, daily involvement with other WHS departments, volunteers and customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Organizes and delegates daily work of the Behaviour Counselors
Reviews the work for completion and accuracy and provides feedback for revision as needed
Provides assistance to other Departments as needed for safe handling of animals during treatments
Assists with Adoption client interviews
Assists with performing:
Behaviour Evaluations
Behaviour Modification, Training, and Enrichment Protocols
Behaviour Yelpline calls
Staff and Volunteer training
All other reasonable duties assigned by The Behaviour and Intake Manager/Assistant
