RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF
ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
November 2, 2015
WHEREAS, the mission of the OC Public Works Department includes regional
resources and environmental quality throughout Orange County; and
WHEREAS, OC Public Works desires to increase awareness of activities and
practices protective of water quality; and
WHEREAS, OC Public Works wishes to support environmental educational
initiatives that provide water quality themed education and outreach; and
WHEREAS, OC Public Works recognizes that educating youth about stormwater
and urban runoff pollution is critical to the long-term health of Orange County waterways
and coastal resources; and
WHEREAS, the California Coastal Commission Whale Tail® grants support
programs that teach California’s children and the general public to value and take action
to improve the health of the state’s marine and coastal resources.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board does hereby:
1. Authorize the Director of the OC Public Works Department, or his
designee, to submit an application for a Whale Tail® grant from the
California Coastal Commission in an amount not to exceed $20,000.
2. Authorize the Director of the OC Public Works Department, or his
designee, to negotiate and execute a Grant Agreement with the California
Coastal Commission and to approve amendments and minor
modifications to the Grant Agreement subject to Board policy.
3. Authorize the Director of the OC Public Works Department, or his
designee, to negotiate and execute an Implementation Agreement and to
approve amendments and minor modifications to the Implementation
Agreement subject to Board policy.

4. Authorize the Director of the OC Public Works Department, or his
designee, to certify that the County of Orange has and will comply with all
applicable state statutory and regulatory requirements related to any state
grants received.
