This will kill fleas and devitalise eggs. Tick Control: Frontline Plus used fortnightly is registered for tick prevention in cats. DO NOT USE ADVANTIX ON CATS Check your pet daily for ticks. * Avoid bushy areas and creeks * “KEEP YOUR PET INDOORS AT NIGHT” “DON’T EXPOSE YOUR PET TO SNAIL BAIT OR RAT BAIT” Nutrition: KITTENS Feed premium tinned/dry kitten food until 1 year old. If your kitten has never had dry food you may need to moisten it initially. Feed your kitten 3 times a day to 16 weeks of age - then twice a day to 26 weeks - then once or twice a day after desexing ADULT CATS The best diet for your cat is premium dry and/or tinned diets (Hills, Eukanuba) Ensure dry food consists of at least 50% of food intake. Cooked meat is deficient in calcium and other minerals and should not constitute more than 25% of your cats diet. NO raw red meat should be fed to your cat due to risks of toxoplasmosis. Special formulated dry and tinned food are available from your veterinary surgery to minimise urinary disease, animals with skin/other allergies as well as to assist in weight loss. Fresh water should always be available and replenished daily. Dental Care: The best way to keep your cats teeth clean is daily toothbrushing or feeding Hills T/d as the sole diet. Heartworm: Advocate and Revolution are “top spots” that cover fleas, worms and heartworm, or milbemax tablets monthly. Commence treatment at 16 weeks of age. Desexing: 5-6 Months is the optimal age to have your cat desexed. Desexing the Tom helps minimise roaming and fighting behaviour. Desexing the Queen helps reduce the incidence of mammary tumours, prevents unwanted litters and calling behaviours. It is a fallacy that your cat will become a “better pet” if she has one litter. Microchiping: Queensland law states that all puppies and kittens must be microchiped at or before 12 weeks of age Thank you… Thank you for choosing the Waterworks Road Veterinary Surgery for your pet health needs.
