THE NORTH AMERICAN COAL CORPORATION Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst Location: Dallas Office Reports to: Director of Accounting and Financial Planning Department: Financial Services JOB SUMMARY: Fully qualified and experienced financial analyst who performs all aspects of work related to North American Coal’s Annual Financial Planning needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Prepare the Financial Plan on a quarterly and annual basis. The Financial Plan includes Income Statements, Balance Sheets and Cash Flow Statements as well as information such as operational data, capital expenditures, interest/debt calculations and assumptions used in the Financial Plan. Develop and maintain the underlying financial model to produce the Financial Plan. Identify and compile data to gather information used in the Financial Plan. Analyze Financial Plan and variances related to it. Transmit Financial Plan electronically to NACCO Industries. Develop “Economic Models” for all Potential Projects, including Base Cases and multiple scenarios based on particulars of individual projects. Participate in all aspects of Potential Project work efforts, including thorough understanding of business-case background, work effort/cost projections, revenue/selling price development, project financial returns and overall fit of Potential Project into NAC Portfolio of Assets. Develop presentations to effectively communicate Financial Plan/Potential Projects to management of NACCO and North American Coal. Such presentations include North American Coal Board Meetings and North American Coal Management Meetings. Develop presentations for Financial Institutions for both Financial Plans and Potential Projects. Prepare targets for Incentive Compensation Plans. Utilize Cognos Finance/Cognos Analyst software as the data systems (system administration, data input, report development). Act as “point person” for Financial Plan to successfully communicate and assist Operations in all aspects of their planning process. OTHER DUTIES: Assist in the preparation of 10Q and 10K reports. Assist in quarterly Earnings discussions with NACCO Industries. Perform special projects as needed. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must have strong technical accounting skills, including knowledge of GAAP and ability to apply it. Must have the ability to develop projected financial statements using data coming from a variety of sources. Must have knowledge of finance concepts (NPV, IRR, EVA, Project Payback) and income tax concepts (book vs tax differences, entity structuring). With work objectives generally defined, must be able to perform calculations, analyze and interpret data, make decisions and recommendations. Must be able to coordinate, prioritize and meet multiple deadlines. Must have excellent spreadsheet skills, understand database concepts and be computer proficient. Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to compile data from a variety of sources and convey the information to management. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (with adequate accounting background to understand financial statement creation). CPA and/or MBA preferred. 5-10 years relevant work experience required. Work Experience with ERP/BI systems required.
