The Quarter Racing Owners of Ontario are pleased to announce that the inaugural QROOI Yearling and Mixed Sale held Saturday October 30, 2010 was a resounding success. The QROOI board would like to take this opportunity to thank the ‘QROOI Sales Committee’ and its members for putting together the sale. All of the meetings, late nights and hard work paid off! We would also like to thank all of the horsemen who bought and sold horses throughout the day and wish them great success as they prepare their horses for the 2011 racing season.
As for the preliminary sale results themselves, the yearlings stole the show with 30 head passing through the ring averaging an incredible $7003.33. The highest selling horse ‘Black Chart’ a 2009 colt by ‘Black Moon Arising’ out of ‘Shake the Chart’ by ‘Check the Charts’ sold for $26,100. He is a full brother to stakes winning ‘Rising Up the Charts’ SI 107 $129,721 and ‘Magic Off the Chart’
SI 104 $86,651. Bred and consigned by Norse Ridge Farms ‘Black Chart’ is Ontario Sired/Ontario
Bred with engagements in the $105,000 added Alex Picov Memorial Futurity and $150,000 added
Ontario Jackpot stakes. Congratulations to all who are connected with this very promising colt.
Overall the sale saw 44 horses pass through the ring for a total value of $285,700 and an average selling price of $6493. Although several horses were repurchased we feel confident that the sale brought many new owners into Quarter Horse racing in Ontario.
