Discussion Rubric for Scheduling Approved Integrated Studies Courses
Does the approved IS course….

Scale 1-5
a. Bring new disciplines into the Integrated Studies courses offerings?
b. Bring new faculty into Integrated Studies program?
c. Provide multiple degree requirements (e.g. VLPA, special designations, etc.)?
d. Bring disciplinary balance to the annual IS schedule?
e. Provide a mentoring experience for a new faculty member with experienced IS
faculty?
f. Meet the advisors’ recommendations regarding student demand?
g. Have “Special circumstances" that might affect when it is offered? (For example,
timeliness, or a visiting faculty member or a unique opportunity.)
h. Work well with the IS program’s priorities for the college’s master schedule?
i. If previously offered, provide sufficient evidence to support it being offered again?
(Criteria includes student evaluations, strong enrollment history, covers an
essential learning outcome not normally offered in an IS course.)
j. Taught by faculty who have served the IS program by creating links and/or
teaching online offerings?
