Lanzhou Jiaotong University
Lanzhou Jiaotong University ( LZJTU ) (formerly Lanzhou Railway University ) was established in
1958 through the combination of departments and sections from two highly reputable Chinese railway
institutes: Tangshan Railway Institute (the present Southwest Jiaotong University ) and Beijing
Railway Institute (the present Beijing Jiaotong University ). In April 2003, the name of Lanzhou
Railway University was changed to Lanzhou Jiaotong University . After 50 years of construction and
development, LZJTU ranks as a comprehensive technical institution and forms its own schooling
pattern that give the priority to the engineering and coordinate the relationship between science,
economics, administration and humanities. From 2000, LZJTU began to recruit self-finance overseas
students. In March 2008, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, LZJTU got the authorization
of recruiting the Chinese Government Scholarship students. The university has cooperated with some
overseas universities and scientific research institutions, such exchanging students with Ukraine
National University of Railway Transport in 2007 and sending cohort students to the Iowa State
University from 2003. Now, the University’s current enrollment of oversea students exceeds 100
full-time graduate students and postgraduate students. We sincerely welcome the students all over the
world to LZJTU.
