Scholarship awards are based on a variety of factors, including academic achievement in the scholarship examinations, previous academic performance and a foundation of academic success as demonstrated through report cards, and an ability and willingness to contribute to the day-to-day life of the College. A Selection Committee established and chaired by the Director of Admissions will review applications and determine the scholarship award recipients. Purpose The purpose for these scholarships is to ensure student excellence is recognized and celebrated as students embark on their education in our Senior School. Eligibility Senior School Scholarships are offered to eligible students entering Grade 9, including current HSC Grade 8 students. All new candidates must submit a regular Application for Admission, as well as the completed Scholarship Application(s). Awards Our Senior School Scholarships are valued from $1,000-$10,000 and are offered as one time awards for students entering into Grade 9. Check List HSC Application for Admission for new students has been completed. Applicant is entering into Grade 9. Applicant is a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident. Applicant must have a strong academic ability as demonstrated through report cards and should be consistently achieving A’s or 85% or higher in their subjects. Scholarship application has been submitted to the Admissions Office no later than Friday, November 22, 2013. Hillfield Strathallan College Alumni Association’s Leadership Scholarship Introduction The Alumni Association’s Leadership Scholarship each year celebrates two students (one male and one female) entering Grade 9. These awards highlight and recognize the leadership achievements and potential of each recipient. A Selection Committee established and chaired by the Director of Admissions or another individual as designated by the Head of College, will review applications and prepare a short list of applicants to interview. Purpose The purpose for this scholarship is to ensure student leadership excellence is recognized and celebrated at HSC. Eligibility The Alumni Association’s Leadership Scholarships are offered to eligible students entering Grade 9, including current HSC Grade 8 students. All new candidates must submit a regular Application for Admission, as well as the completed Scholarship Application(s). Hillfield Strathallan College Alumni Legacy Honorarium Introduction This one time honorarium will be given to any child or grandchild of an alumnus to celebrate the family link to the College. An alumnus will be defined as any student who fulfilled a minimum of one year at HSC, or its predecessor schools. Internal recipients may be recognized during Grade 8 graduation. All candidates will receive their award via a tuition deduction on their September tuition statement. Purpose The purpose for this honorarium is to celebrate Alumni connections to the College. Please note that recipients will be contacted for photos, and a portion of the application form outlining the family connection will be used in future College communications. Eligibility Any student who is a child or grandchild of an alumnus of Highfield School, Hillfield School, Strathallan School or Hillfield Strathallan College and is entering Grade 9. Award This award is a one time $500 tuition deduction. Check List HSC Application for Admission for new students has been completed. Candidates will need to bring a scientific calculator. The examinations will not be based on any particular course of studies, but will give the candidates an opportunity to demonstrate their thinking skills and to express themselves effectively. Special attention will be paid to comprehension, effective use of English and careful presentation of work. Notes: The award recipients will be notified by the Head of College prior to the end of January. All applications will be regarded as confidential.
