Language Institute Thammasat University EL 226 English for Import-Export Business Course Outline 1/2015 Course Description Terminology, idioms, and typical business documents related to the import-export business will be studied in this class. Other areas emphasized are listening and speaking. Students will practice reading and writing business documents concerning imports and exports. Course Objectives 1. To help students develop their reading and writing skills in the context of international trade with concentration on import and export business 2. To help students enhance their speaking skill through the oral presentation, group discussions, and the interview on the topics relevant to import-export business 3. To familiarize students with some documents used in import-export business. 4. To equip students with English structure, vocabulary, terms, and expressions which are useful in import-export business 5. To provide students with some key foundation concepts of import-export business. 6. The design of the project can be different from one section to another section, depending on the decision made by the instructor. However, the content should be relevant to either the import-export business concept or the English language used in the import-export business. As for the Oral Presentation, it can be done in class based on the Final Project content, or it can be done in the form of interview by having each group of students come to have an interview or having each student come for it as an individual.
