I am responsible for a number of activities under the assignment from NAHC: – From March 2008 to April 2011, I was assigned as the Lao Project Leader for the Management of Pig-associated Zoonoses Project in northern Lao PDR, which is funded by Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR). In close collaboration with Australian Project Leader, we conducted a series of activities from the fields to the laboratory to establish the evidence based in terms of prevalence, distribution and socio-economic impacts of pig associated zoonoses in northern Lao PDR, as well as to determine the risks associated with 1 human and pig transmission at the village level and identify appropriate and sustainable disease control strategies. – From October 2009 to October 2010, I was a principle researcher for the study on “Future of Smallholder Poultry Producers in Lao PDR and Cambodia” which is supported by John D. Rockefeller 3rd Scholars Program of Winrock International. The objectives of the study were try to answer how poultry is important for rural livelihood? and what are the determinant factors influencing the practices and behavior changes of poultry producers. – From August 2010 to July 2011, I was a principle investigator for a study on sero-prevalence of bovine associated zoonotic infectious diseases in northern Lao PDR which is supported by UNDP/WB/WHO Special Program for TDR Small grants. – From August to September 2011, I was a short national consultant in lead field veterinarian of a swine disease outbreak investigation in Lao PDR, under the TCP/RAS/3215 project. Under the guidance from technical advisor of the project, I conducted PRRS outbreak investigation to determine the source of infection for further identifying of its control strategies. October 1998 to August 2001: I was a teacher and trainer in animal health for Lap-EU Livestock Project in Lao PDR and was the Chief of the Livestock and Fisheries Division at Northern Agriculture and Forestry College, Luang Prabang (NAFC). My roles in the NAFC were: – Conducted a series of lectures and training courses on animal diseases and veterinary pharmacology. Theoretical and practical aspects were covered. – Manage activities in the Livestock and Fisheries Division of NAFC. – Provided Veterinary Services for Livestock in NAFC’s farms and nearby villages.
