Also, the following NPSS members were first evaluated by other IEEE societies and elected IEEE Fellows: Jerome J. Blair, Michael B. Silevitch and Richard M. Leahy. Osamu has provided outstanding leadership in his role as Chair, and I am sure that I can speak for the other members of AdCom in stating that we are all extremely grateful for his hard work and valuable contributions. I appreciate the good advice that he has given me, and I look forward to working closely with Osamu and the other committee members as we evaluate the candidates this year. The NPSS Fellow Committee evaluates the Nomination packages and ranks the candidates into five possible categories: extraordinary qualified (EQ), 86-100, highly qualified (HQ), 51-85, qualified (Q), 16-50, marginally qualified (MQ), 1-15, and Not Yet Qualified (NYQ). The Committee does not have access to the Fellow Reference Forms for the candidates. Based in part on the information that I have received from Dr. Ishihara, I present in Table 1 some statistical data for the years 1999 though 2003. It is my understanding that these data include only those candidates that were evaluated by the NPSS Fellow Committee. Table 1.
