Tisch Active Citizenship Summer
Project PERIS Somerville
2010 Fellowship Application
In Somerville, ACS fellows will participate in Tisch College's Project
PERIS (Partnering for Economic Recovery Impact through Service),
working on specific projects designed to aid in the community’s
economic recovery. A developing list of placements will be available at
the end of this semester, and will include the Somerville Homeless
Coalition, The Welcome Project, and city agencies.
Started this fall, Project PERIS is a three year initiative focused on delivering needed economic
services to the Somerville community. This year-round program combines planning in the fall
semester with service delivery in the spring semester and over the summer.
As the summer component of this program, placement opportunities for ACS Project PERIS
Somerville will be based on the economic recovery priorities identified in Project PERIS courses.
These courses, each taught by a Tufts faculty member and community co-educator, cover a
range of disciplines including Anthropology, Child Development, and Community Health.
Participation in Project PERIS courses in not required for participation in ACS.
Twelve undergraduate and graduate Fellowships are available. Fellows will work 30 hours per week
for 8 weeks starting June 15th and ending August 6th and will receive a $3,000 stipend from Tisch
College. Tisch College staff will support the Fellows through weekly meetings, review and response
