Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University Department of Pediatric Nursing NGP 555391 : Pediatric Nursing Practice I (International Program) First semester, Academic Year 2015 Prerequisite : NGF 217 and concurrent to NGP 311 Credit : 2(0-8-0) Course Description : Course Description Practice in health promotion and illness prevention in children from newborn to adolescents by utilizing the nursing process according to their physical, psychological, social, spiritual health problems and needs. Objectives Students are able to: 1.Utilize the nursing process in promoting health and preventing illness in children from newborn to adolescents according to their physical, psychological, social and spiritual problems and needs. Course specific objectives : The student will be able to 1. Assess health status of children by utilizing nursing process and concept of sufficient economy appropriately to promote holistic health, illness and health risk prevention for children and children at health risk from newborns to adolescents. 1.1 Assess accurately on health status of children and children at health risk including physical, psychological, social and spiritual health. 1.2 Assess accurately on factors relating health status of children. 2. Analyze appropriately on health problems and needs of children and children at health risk including physical, psychological, social and spiritual dimension. 3. Plan appropriately on health promotion to children and children at health risk according to health problems by focusing concepts of family centered-care and sufficient economy. Implement appropriate holistic nursing care to promote health status of children and children at health risk according to the nursing care plan morally and ethically. 5. Solve problems and obstacles occurred during the implementation of nursing care appropriately and timely. 8. Practice of health promotion on the basis of family centered-care. 9. Demonstrate good attitude on providing holistic nursing care for health promotion to children and children at risk. 10. Cooperate with other health care providers among health team and other agencies to achieve good health outcome of children and children at risk. 11. Demonstrate roles and responsibility of a nursing student appropriately.
