YOUR CORRECT DETAILS REGARDING TB (PARISHES &
TESTING DATES) AND YOU HAVE COMPLETED AN

YOU MAY LOSE OUT ON PRICE IF YOU DO NOT
SUPPLY THE RIGHT INFORMATION
IMPORTANT NOTICE
FARM ASSURANCE
Due to the Farm assurance body unable to give us a real time
database or actual up to date information on your assurance status
we rely on YOU the producers to give us the correct information.
Therefore if you present your cattle as farm assured when they are
not this is a misdescription and you are representing your cattle
fraudulently.
When the animal gets to the abattoir they have specific outlets for
these animals and often don’t for nonfarm assured stock so they
deduct massively. This is due to the time and loss of animal to the
batch that was bought for a specific job.
They cannot be returned from an abattoir therefore you are in their
hands. The deduction could be £150.
PLEASE GIVE US THE CORRECT INFORMATION

STORE CATTLE
Every Friday
(To commence after the sale of the beef approximately 12.30pm)
Prices peaked at 205 or £1,340.00
Prices Peaked at £990 or 243.9p
Even with cattle numbers ahead of market requirements, the
trade really isn't that bad. Best Steers to £1340 or 205p per
kilo. It was just so good last year with prices never seen
before making the current market look depressed. Looking
back to last years prices in January the (dw) prices are up
12p and in 2012 prices now are up more than 45p per kilo.
The prices at Beeston are in line with all other markets but
the quality of cattle are somewhat less. We offer payment on
the day and have enough buying power for many more
cattle. Please contact us with your entries. We would be
pleased to market your cattle. We offer next weeks trade
selling on a Friday for a Monday morning kill. Please do not
hesitate to contact Alastair who would be pleased to inform
you the best market opportunity for your livestock. SELL

SALE REPORT
FEVER AMY SELLS FOR 3000 GNS AT
BEESTON FOCUS MILK SALE
The Western Holstein Club’s Monthly Show and Sale
of Calved cows and heifers attracted a small entry of
good quality cattle for its end of January Sale which
was judged by Mark Thornton, Farm Manager for
Joseph Heler Farms noted Helton Herd based at
Audlem, Cheshire.
Champion animal was a super cow consigned by Paul
Findley of Marchwiel, Wrexham with his second
calver, Bestfed Shottle Primrose, (VG87‐2yr), a
daughter of Picston Shottle and the fifth generation of
animals scored in the top two grades. In reserve was
the 1st senior heifer Fieldside Ada 169th, a daughter of
Weeton Lewis from Harry Jolly of Great Eccleston,
Preston.
In the female section of the sale quality was good
throughout and a good trade was experienced with a
total clearance being effected except for one. The top
price was 3000 gns which was achieved for Riverdane
Fever Amy consigned jointly by Riverdane Holsteins
of Middlewich and John Barker of Leicestershire. This
daughter of Crackholm Fever has 8 generations of
VG/EX dams and is out of the noted 14000 kg.
Sunnylodge Skychief Amy who in her career
won many Championships as well as having already
bred a dozen daughters classified in the top two grades.
The buyer was Tom Lomas of Faddiley, Nantwich.
Two heifers made 2600 gns each; the first was
Fieldside Torch 185th a Cogent Twist daughter from
Harry Jolly and the second was Dalebank Inez 256th, a
Shottle daughter from David Rees Farms of Nantwich
both being purchased by Spotacre Farms of Stone,
Staffordshire.
A small entry of bulls saw prices rise to 1400 gns for
Aintree Knight, a son og Gillette Stanleycup from the
Kimo family also purchased by Spotacre Farms.

herd of Holsteins, a Master Breeder Herd. The property

What a herd of cows this is and it is undoubtedly one
of the great herds resident in the North of England. As
you can imagine the Sale contains a huge proportion of
outstanding animals. There are 25 Excellent, 35 Very
Good, 39 Good Plus and just one Good animal selling
with the remainder not yet scored. All year round
calving pattern but mainly June to February. The age
profile is very attractive, 46 milking heifers and 42
2nd/3rd calvers selling. This entirely homebred herd is
dominated by fantastic cow families and in particular
the renowned Sabrina’s (33 family members selling)
and the Pretzel’s and Aldina’s of which there are 35
between them. Great line-up of Sires - Talent, Mr
Sam, Goldwyn, Shottle, Toystory, Bolton, Lauthority,
Sid, Million, Fever, Windbrook and Gillette Jordan
who between them account for over half of the Sale
cattle. Production on this hard and very wet, West
Cumbrian farm is phenomenal. Herd average 10943
kg 4.27% 3.22% with calving index rolling at 415. At
the last recording the whole herd averaged a staggering
38.3 kg with cell count only 117. This is produced on
a Semi-TMR diet (grass, wholecrop and NO maize)
topped up in parlour. 2x milking and cubicles from the
age of 4 months. BVD/Lepto vacc. No evidence of
