JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE OF POSITION:
Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PR) Provider

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Be
familiar with community resources. Possess good interpersonal skills. Possesses an interest and investment in
working with children and their families who experience Severe Emotional Disturbance. Have the ability to work as
a member of a treatment team in providing a continuum of services to consumers and their families. Have completed
or will complete any required training within stated time frame for their employment with AMHC including
completion of a state approved basic training program, and maintain any state training requirements.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The PR Provider assists the consumer with compensating for or eliminating
functional deficits and interpersonal/environmental barriers associated with their mental illness. Activities included
must be intended to achieve the identified goals or objectives as set forth in the consumer’s individualized treatment
plan. The intent of psychosocial rehabilitation is to restore the fullest possible integration of the consumer as an
active and productive member of his or her family, community, and/or culture with the least amount of ongoing
professional intervention. PR is a face-to-face intervention with the consumer present. Services may be provided
individually or in a group setting. The majority of PR contacts must occur in community locations where the person
lives, works, attends school, and/or socializes.
KARS #1 PSYCHOSOCIAL REHABILITATION- GROUP
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION 35%
 Provides group activities consistent with requirements set by the state and AMHC and as directed by
supervisor
 Group activities will meet one of the following objectives as set forth by the Kansas Medical Assistance
Program (Medicaid): assist individuals in daily problem solving skills, improve social skills, provide leisure
time training, promote health, and enhance personal relationships.
 Create new group activities with the consumers input and submit ideas to supervisor for approval
 Plan group activities and outings with supervisor’s approval.
PSYCHOSOCIAL REHABILITATION- INDIVIDUAL
 Support and restore the consumer’s development of social and interpersonal skills to increase community
tenure, enhance personal relationships, and establish support networks. Increase the consumer’s
community awareness, and develop coping strategies for the consumer’s mental illness symptoms.
Increase the functioning level in the consumer’s social environment including home, work, and school.
 Support and restore the consumer’s development of daily living skills to improve self management of the
negative effects of psychiatric or emotional symptoms that interfere with a person’s daily living.
Supporting the consumer with the development and implementation of daily living skills and daily routines
critical to remaining in home, school, work, and community.
 Assisting the consumer with effectively responding to or avoiding identified precursors or triggers that
result in functional impairments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION 30%
 Maintains a written chronological record of client’s progress towards goals and participation level in group
activities or PRI service.
 Billing sheets are turned in daily.
 Documentation completed in medical record within 24 hours.
 Maintain billable hours at or above standard as set by supervisor.
KARS #3 COMMUNICATION, PROFESSIONALISM, ATTITUDE
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION 25%
 Communicates legibly, comprehensively, and accurately both verbally and in writing, within the agency and
with external contacts. Appropriately expresses and shares information.
 Represents Area Mental health Center in a professional manner (projects positive, service oriented attitude to
community and co-workers), and maintains good relationships with referral sources in the community and is
appropriately groomed/attired, and demonstrates courtesy and respect in all relationships.
 Attends work on a consistent basis (less than six unscheduled absences per year)
 Exhibits dependability and flexibility in working with supervisor and co-workers, and is able to adapt to
changing needs and client demand for services as evidenced by meeting established deadlines, following
through on tasks, and meeting established goals.
 Adheres to ethical standards promulgated by Center, profession, and State.
 Promotes an attitude of cooperation and demonstrates initiative thinking.
 Maintain ethical standards including that confidentiality of consumers is not breached.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION 10%
Attends staff meetings as assigned.
Attends individual and group supervision as scheduled.
Will complete any trainings required for this position and will keep all certifications (CPR,First Aide) up to date
Attends Center sponsored education programs and relevant workshops as assigned by supervisor.
Utilizes computer effectively, including e-mail, Microsoft outlook, word processing, spreadsheet programs,
Timeforce and the Electronic Medical Record.
Performs other duties directly related to the position as assigned by the supervising director
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Will complete Kids Training On-line Psychosocial
Rehabilitation certification prior to delivery of service. This position requires a current, valid Kansas Driver’s
License. Will obtain CPR, First Aid and CPI Training and renew training as required to meet state regulation.. Will
attend any other training/certifications as assigned directly related to this position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see and hear. The employee is
regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hand and finger, use fine motor skills, handle or feel objects, tools or

The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to twenty-five pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and the ability to see to drive. Specific hearing abilities required by
this job include the ability to hear what is considered to be normal conversation tone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that
must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to a typical office environment and interaction
with many different persons in their homes and in the community. In addition, the employee travels by automobile

and is exposed to changing weather conditions. The employee will interact with many different persons in varying
stages of recovery from their mental illness.
Dress Standards
PURPOSE: To establish dress code and grooming guidelines in accordance with guidelines for Area Mental Health
Center Community Support Services. We believe personal neatness and appropriate attire provide an atmosphere of
professionalism and inspire confidence in the care we provide.
1. Casual t-shirts with phrases or inappropriate graphics, tank tops, muscle shirts, hoodie sweatshirts, jogging
suits, distracting and revealing clothing are not appropriate for work. Shirts and blouses should be buttoned so
as not to expose undergarments or anatomy. Low necklines and see-through material are not acceptable. Shorts
will be allowed but no shorter than the length of your arm hanging down. In addition no athletic shorts will be
allowed.
2. A clean, neat and business-like appearance is expected. Avoid extreme or eccentric hairstyles, excessive makeup, clothing or jewelry that do not present a professional appearance.
3. Shoes should be appropriate for daily tasks. (ex: no high heel shoes for sporting activities). Flip Flops are not
allowed.
4. Body piercing should be limited to the earlobes
5. Clothing should be of suitable length to maintain modesty when working (i.e. skirts).
6. Tight fitting or excessive loose fitting clothes are discouraged as they do not project a positive image.
7. Tattoos should be concealed if possible.
