The Linear Accelerator Laboratory (LAL) seeks a software
architect in research and development.
Employer description
The Linear Accelerator Laboratory (LAL) is a high-energy physics laboratory
of the IN2P3 French institute. LAL focuses its research on particles’ physics
that is to say their mutual interactions and their mass’ origin.
In the framework of its research and R&D works, the laboratory is implicated
strongly in several international projects on different technical levels from
mechanic to electronic including computing sciences.
Context
For more than 8 years, LAL contributed to computing grid technologies
through international projects. Within the framework of an European project,
LAL takes new responsibilities and is currently recruiting new collaborators for
a 24-month full time contract based in Orsay (Ile-de-France/Essone).
Position requirements
You have a master degree (engineer) and experience in software
development.
You are able to work independently, to take initiatives, to easily integrate a
group and are broad-minded.
Professional English is required for this position.
Position description
You will lead a study on different software architectures of grid computing
(glite, globus, boinc, xgrid, xtremweb) to understand the potential interactions
between these middleware. You will list the incompatibilities and propose
innovative solutions.
Some short travels are foreseen in Europe. You will have to give some
presentations in English for international conferences.
