Proposal Guidelines and Information – ADTA 2011 Conference October 20-23, 2011 Minneapolis, Minnesota in collaboration with National Dance Education Organization and The International Guild of Musicians in Dance To be considered, proposals must be clear, complete and received electronically as a Word document. Send to gloria@adta.org no later than midnight (Eastern Time) of February 15, 2011. Proposals received after this time will not be considered or reviewed. The time stamp on the email containing the submission will be used to determine time of receipt. (All ADTA seminar presentations are 2 hours.) 1. Name and Contact Information for Presenter(s) (provide full name, home address, day and evening phone numbers, and email, credentials of presenter(s) and indicate lead presenter’s name Items 2-5 are subject to blind review. Do not include any identifying marks. If you identify yourself by a trademarked term or publication that is associated with you, the submission will be returned without review. Use Times New Roman 11 and do not use text boxes, graphs, bulleted lists, outlines, columns or photos; see Tip Sheet 2. Title of Presentation –15 word maximum 3. Description of Presentation – explain the content and structure; be very specific; include target audience; avoid commercialism – 250 word maximum 4. Describe three (3) learning objectives related to issues of DMT, counseling, treatment, professional development and/or the conference theme. See the ADTA website for guidelines for writing good learning objectives 5. Abstract – 75 word maximum 6. Biography for Lead and Co-Presenters – provide a narrative biography with a 100 word limit to include in the Conference Program. Omit all periods when listing degrees (PhD, MA). Policies: If the workshop title, biography or abstract exceed the maximum word limit, conference planners will make editorial changes without consulting the presenter. If accepted, the biography, title and abstract will be published in the conference brochure. While individuals may submit as many different proposals as they wish, no individual will be scheduled for more than two papers/presentations for which she/he is listed as first author. If submitting a panel presentation, limit number of panelists to no more than six (6) including the moderator. Presentation requirements (two hour presentations): 1. Audio/Visual (AV) Equipment needs: please note: up to two items are provided by ADTA; additional item will be the responsibility of the presenter to supply. □ Boom Box/CD Player □ TV monitor with DVD □ Flipchart □ LCD Projector and Screen, (bring your own laptop and own speakers, if needed) You will be notified electronically of receipt of your proposal. Please refrain from calling regarding decisions. Notification of the status of submitted proposals will be sent by April 1, 2011. Upon acceptance of proposal and presenter’s agreement to present, the ADTA will require: 1. $50 Presentation Fee (for each presenter/panelist) is credited towards presenter/panelist’s conference fee upon registration – there are no refunds if you cancel your presentation. 2. $30 fee for each piece of equipment requested. (Presentations with more than one presenter/panelist, only one needs to send AV fee). 3. 1500 word mandatory description of presentation sent to gloria@adta.org by July 1, 2011 and will be included in the CD conference proceedings.
