Scientific or educational purposes permit
Holders of scientific purposes permits or educational purposes permits involving research on wildlife must complete a
scientific purposes permit report within 10 business days after each period of 12 months starting when the permit is granted.
If the permit ends within a 12 month period, a return of operations must be submitted within 10 business days of the
expiry/surrender/cancellation of the permit.
It is intended that these reports will provide a synopsis of the research undertaken. Reports should be
completed and provided to the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (EHP) electronically
wherever possible so as to facilitate their circulation to relevant staff involved with the planning and
management of wildlife or EHP managed areas including national parks, state forests and marine parks.
These reports will provide the opportunity for scientists to highlight the outcomes of their research in a form
suitable for staff and raise any issues that may be of importance to EHP. It is expected better communication of
the information derived from research will promote the benefits of undertaking high quality research in
Queensland.
