CASA LOYOLA A Private Catholic Residence for Single Women 19 Micheltorena Street, Santa Barbara CA 93101 Casa Loyola is a low-cost private Catholic housing facility for single women who work or study within the greater Santa Barbara area. Ideally located in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, Casa Loyola is within walking distance to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and close to many of the beautiful amenities Santa Barbara has to offer: community parks, shopping, the arts and the beach/harbor area. Safe, secure and affordable, this former convent with chapel onsite provides each resident with a private bedroom and vanity upstairs and the use of all common living spaces including laundry, dining, full kitchen privileges and free parking. Semi-private work spaces are also available for study or privacy. Each bedroom contains a single bed, private sink and closet with built-in drawers and shelving. Additional storage space may be available. WI-FI service is available. With a signed lease agreement of six (6) months or more rent is $600 per month. Otherwise the rent per month is $800/month. Exceptions can be discussed. A security deposit of $500 will be required upon approval of residency. As in many communal living residences, certain decorum of respectability and common courtesy are essential. It is to this end, that certain “house” rules have been established and are expected to be followed. A copy of those rules is attached for your review. As a private resident of Casa Loyola it is necessary that certain restrictions are enforced for the security, safety and comfort of our residents. Please read carefully the “House Rules.” 1.REFERRAL REQUIREMENT: (1) your current parish pastor or applicable church staff member or (2) any Principal or Vice-Principal of a Catholic School or school administrator holding a similar position. The referral form in this packet must be completed and submitted with the application. Relatives are not acceptable forms of rental references. 2.APPLICATION: An application must be over 18 years of age to apply for residency. Omissions and false information may be grounds for application denial. A non-refundable application fee of $20 per person is required for processing and reviewing credit reports and applications. Application fees must be paid at the time the application is submitted. 3.IDENTIFICATION: A copy of your driver’s license, Visa or Passport or 2 forms of photo identification are required. 4.RENTAL HISTORY: Current and previous rental history must be verifiable. Any unpaid rental collections, evictions, property damage beyond normal wear and tear or illegal activity on premises shall be grounds for denial. 5.INCOME REQUIREMENT: Income must be verifiable to exceed 2 times the amount of the monthly rent. Unemployment compensation will not be considered income. Recent 1099’s and last 2 year’s tax returns will be considered if necessary. Section 8 or other housing subsidy to meet the income requirement will be considered. 6.CREDIT: Applications may be rejected for unpaid collections or judgments without proof of an approved payment plan or more than 2 trade accounts 30 days late at the time of application. 7.CRIMINAL HISTORY: A criminal back ground check will be performed and used for approval for any applicants/occupants over the age of 18. Certain offenses are cause for automatic rejection. 8.LIVESCAN FINGER PRINTING: Once approved for residency a background check will be performed due to the close proximity of Casa Loyola to Notre Dame School.
